Chieko Ogura

Sunshine Aquarium Wildlife Attendant

As a wildlife attendant, Chieko takes care of seals, penguins, pelicans and many other species. Look carefully and you'll spot her during sea lion performances. There is so much to do in Ikebukuro, but she always looks forward to hitting local restaurants and bars with her coworkers after work.

There are many places to eat and drink in Ikebukuro with a wide range of food options—from eel grilled to perfection to top notch Chinese. Not just at ground level, the Sunshine Building has some great dining spots dotted throughout its 60 storys. If you need a moment to relax, sit down on one of the benches at the Sunshine Hiroba and enjoy the musical fountain displays.

  1. After work, I love to go to Unatatsu. It not only does great grilled eel, but stocks a wide variety of drinks
  2. Sanhamana is great to go to when you can't quite decide what you want—the first floor and second floor serve very different cuisine
  3. The Sunshine City Sky Restaurant is on the 58th and 59th floors of the Sunshine Building—a great spot for lunch
  4. After spending most of my day with animals, Sunshine Hiroba is a great place to sit and do some people watching
