Kappabashi Kitchenware Town is famous for its incredible selection of cooking equipment. Find fine examples of Japanese craftsmanship at new and recently reopened shops in the bustling neighborhood.

TSUCHI-YA

Approximately 1,000 items line the shelves at this shop specializing in handmade glassware. You’ll find sandblasted glass, blown glass and kiriko cut glass—a traditional Japanese craft—fashioned by over 35 artisans. TSUCHI-YA, opened in 2022, focuses on glass pouring vessels and glassware suitable for serving water, tea and alcoholic beverages. it also sells vases and glass-dip pens.

Majimaya Confectionery Tool & Gear Shop

Approximately 3,000 cookie cutters, around 1,500 of which are for sale, cover the multistory display in the middle of Majimaya, which reopened after renovations in 2019. You'll find handmade cutters fashioned by Majimaya staff and artisans, including Japanese designs like Shiba dogs and sakura, alongside mass-produced cutters. Same-day custom orders are taken Thursday mornings. Majimaya also sells confectionery molds, vegetable cutters, food branding irons and other kitchen tools.

Jikko Cutlery Tokyo Kappabashi

Shopping in Kappabashi for knives? Be sure to visit the Kappabashi branch of the venerable Sakai, Osaka, knife maker Jikko, which opened in 2021. The gallery-cum-shop displays approximately 150 knives, including knives with Damascus steel blades and knives with blades featuring Mt. Fuji, with more in the back. Custom orders are accepted, and English-language support is available. International shipping can be arranged.
