Why PokéPark KANTO is worth visiting now

PokéPark KANTO

Your current location:

東京郊外

多摩|調布&府中周辺エリア

Originally opened in 1964, Yomiuriland is an amusement park in western Tokyo that offers a mix of rides and seasonal events for visitors of all ages. About a 10-minute ride on the Gondola Sky Shuttle from Keio-yomiuri-land Station on the Keio Line, or about 10 minutes by bus on the Yomi01 (読01) route from Yomiuriland-mae Station on the Odakyu Line, the park is also home to PokéPark KANTO, the world’s first permanent outdoor Pokémon attraction.

Here, Pokémon Trainers from around the world can set out on an adventure through a forest and town inhabited by more than 600 Pokémon – unique creatures at the heart of the Pokémon world, each with their own appearance, abilities and personality.

This guide covers how to make the most of PokéPark KANTO, along with ticket information and other useful tips to know before you visit.

Your very own Pokémon legend is about to unfold. A world of dreams and adventures with Pokémon awaits… Let's go!

Welcome to The World of PokéPark KANTO

PokéPark KANTO brings the world of Pokémon to life across three areas: PokéPark Entrance Plaza, Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town. Your adventure begins at PokéPark Entrance Plaza, where the three original starter Pokémon – Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle – welcome you alongside Pikachu and Eevee.

The plaza is also home to the Pokémon Daisuki Shop, which sells PokéPark KANTO limited merchandise and requires a timed-entry voucher through the official PokéPark KANTO app. Having the app ready in advance will help keep your adventure running smoothly.

Where Pokémon and Trainers Reside – Sedge Town

Sedge Town brings the world of Pokémon to life – pass through the entrance and you’ll be greeted by a statue of the three legendary birds – Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. A Primarina Fountain sits at the heart of the town, but be sure to keep an eye out for Pokémon appearing throughout the streets as you explore the area.

Faithfully recreating the world of the games, Sedge Town has its own Pokémon Center, where Nurse Joy and her trusty Chansey companion restore Pokémon to full health. Across the square at the Poké Mart, try drinks inspired by Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, or pick up icing cookies shaped like in-game items such as Potions, Full Heals and Poké Balls.

As you walk the streets, you’ll come across a number of interactive activities that anyone can enjoy. In one photo challenge inspired by Pokémon cards, you’ll need to track down a Pokémon in town and capture it on camera. Complete the challenge and you’ll receive a Pokémon card-style sticker, adding a fun collecting element to the thrill of the search.

There’s plenty more to enjoy, including Pokémon meet-and-greets, parades, and two rides: Pika Pika Paradise and Vee Vee Voyage. Ride tickets are sold separately, but Ace Trainer’s Pass holders can ride each attraction once using the priority lane.

Inside, a roughly 25-minute performance stars either Pikachu and the others will appear alongside a team of dancers. Ace Trainer’s Pass holders can watch once from the premium seating area, while other visitors must enter the raffle through the official PokéPark KANTO app to secure a seat.

Of course, no Pokémon town would be complete without a Pokémon Gym. Head to the rooftop of Sedge Gym to find a Pokémon battle scene where you can strike your best Trainer pose or take a break on one of the nearby Pikachu-tail-shaped benches.

Explore Pokémon Forest

Your journey into Pokémon Forest begins at the Pokémon Research Lab, where researchers study Pokémon in their natural habitats. After receiving your research notes, set out along Route 1 – the very first route Trainers explore after leaving Pallet Town in the original games – and keep your camera ready to “catch” as many Pokémon as you can along the way. The roughly course takes you over hills, uneven paths and stairs, including a staircase with more than 100 steps, so comfortable shoes and clothes are highly recommended.

Along the way, you may spot wild Pokémon such as Rattata, Oddish and Pidgey hiding in the tall grass, or discover groups of Pikachu and Eevee playing in the woods. There are plenty of other surprises to discover, so keep your eyes open and see how many Pokémon you can find for yourself.

Ticketing Information and Other Tips

PokéPark KANTO offers three types of passes, with prices varying depending on your visit date. All three include admission to Yomiuriland.
The Town Pass (¥4,700–) gives you access to Sedge Town but not Pokémon Forest. The Trainer’s Pass (¥7,900–) adds one timed entry to Pokémon Forest, while the Ace Trainer’s Pass (¥14,000–) includes flexible entry to Pokémon Forest, a reserved seat for the Sedge Gym Show, one priority ride each on Pika Pika Paradise and Vee Vee Voyage, and access to Sedge Condominiums for a Pikachu and Eevee meet-and-greet.

Visitors residing outside Japan can apply for admission three months in advance through the English-language ticket site. Lottery applications are open from the 1st to the 12th of each month, with successful applicants notified by the end of the month.

It’s also worth downloading the official PokéPark KANTO app before your visit. Reservations and raffle entries for limited-access experiences, including the Pokémon Daisuki Shop, Pokémon Playhouse and standard seating for the Sedge Gym Show become available through the app after you have checked into Yomiuriland and after 10:45AM. Plan ahead, download the app and get ready to explore a world where Pokémon adventures feel closer than ever.
