As the world remains in a competitive spirit following the Paris 2024 Olympics, we turn our attention to a different kind of sport. Esports, short for "electronic sports," are video games played competitively for spectators. Since the 2000s, esports has rapidly grown, captivating fans worldwide and giving rise to leagues, tournaments, and professional players.
Japan has long stood at the forefront of the gaming industry and annually hosts the TOKYO GAME SHOW in September, which brings console makers, major publishers, and players together.
As Japan’s esports market expands, more gaming facilities are popping up in Tokyo, establishing it as a city where everyone, from avid players to beginners, can enjoy esports. Thanks to the facilities’ multi-lingual offerings, tourists can also join the fun.
In this article, we will introduce three facilities that offer a range of esports offerings, from open gaming areas with high-performance PCs to private rooms for group use. To use the PCs, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis, you will need to register as a member and pay a usage fee. Memberships are free or cost a small fee.

Esports Style UENO is a state-of-the-art gaming and events facility where you can enjoy quality gaming supported by 10 Gbps bandwidth-secured internet. The establishment’s central event area can accommodate up to 140 people, allowing you to watch esports alongside passionate fans. The viewing area is captivating and fosters a strong connection between the audience and players, immersing both in the world of esports. The gaming area is well-equipped for individual use, with various spaces that support your interests and favorite games. For example, there are private rooms that can accommodate up to 11 people for deepening group communication and spaces for individual streaming experiences. ASH WINDER Esports ARENA, located in Shinjuku City, is a massive 24-hour, 600-square meter esports facility, making it one of the largest esports facilities in Japan. The five-meter-high ceilings and open space ensure that you have plenty of room to enjoy your favorite games. It has a spacious 80-seat PC area with five-meter-high ceilings where you can game to your heart’s content, as well as a studio that supports live broadcasts of esport tournaments.
