2025-9-27 - 2025-9-28
Your current location:
Southern Tokyo
Shinagawa & Tennozu
During the Edo period (1603-1867), the Tokaido highway linked Tokyo and Kyoto. There were 53 post stations along its length, with Shinagawa being the first station. The Shinagawa Shukuba Matsuri, held since 1990, carries on the tradition and cultural heritage of Shinagawa for new generations, and hopes to encourage further development of the area. The festival is held along a two-kilometer-long stretch of the former Tokaido between Yatsuyama, in Kita Shinagawa, and Aomono-yokocho, in Minami Shinagawa.
Note: "Shinagawa-shuku" is also spelled as "Shinagawa-juku."
