Your current location:

The delicate art of making washi paper

Make traditional Japanese washi paper made from tree bark fiber –a task that looks easier than it really is. First, use the traditional sugeta tool to scoop up the water containing the dissolved paper-making ingredients, and gently shake it front-to-back and side-to-side until the fibers spread out evenly to form one sheet of flat paper. At this Ozu Washi workshop, you can enjoy traditional Japanese washi papermaking as you create a sheet of your own one-of-a-kind paper. The delight of creating this traditional paper yourself is sure to become an unforgettable memory.
