Colors come alive in an Edo hand-printing technique

Try for yourself the hand-printing techniques used during the Edo period (1603-1867) at this dyeing workshop. You can experience making tablecloth by using 14 paper patterns and shades of seven colors. You can also enjoy stencil dyeing, which forms the basis of traditional bingata dyeing, as well as seasonal plant dyeing workshops using materials such as persimmon tannin or cherry wood grown at the studio, along with fresh-leaf indigo dyeing.
