A major business center and transport interchange, Shinagawa holds some surprising attractions behind its modern facade. The industrial Tennozu Isle area is fast becoming a must for lovers of street art, with bold murals and graffiti, along with craft beer and hip restaurants.

General Tips

  • The Tokyo Monorail will get you to Tennozu Isle Station in five minutes, on its way to Haneda Airport
  • Rainy day? Head to the Shinagawa Prince Hotel for bowling, shopping, movies and an aquarium
  • Rinshi no Mori Park is a green oasis in the city; it's a great place to spot birds and insects

Already a major station with train, bus and shinkansen connections, Shinagawa will also be home to the new Linear Chuo Shinkansen maglev line, connecting Tokyo and Nagoya. The spacious station is easy to navigate and has good shopping and restaurant options.

This former industrial site has become hip, thanks to an influx of micro-breweries, galleries and cool restaurants. Don't miss the public art installations on many of the streets. For all you artists out there, make sure to check out the amazing art supply shop, Pigment Tokyo. Take a break at T.Y.Harbor for brews with a view.
