2-3-1 Asakusa, Taito City, Tokyo

2026-6-17

Your current location:

Eastern Tokyo

Asakusa

For two days, on June 17 and 25, an outdoor performance fusing Japanese tradition and contemporary music will be held within the grounds of Asakusa Shrine, enveloped in candlelight. The special program features a blend of music combining shamisen, jazz, and shomyo—Buddhist ritual music where monks chant sutras to melodies—interwoven with miko-mai (shrine maiden dance) performed by the miko of Asakusa Shrine. Food and drinks will also be available in limited quantities (charged separately). Please enjoy the charm of Japanese culture in this magical atmosphere.

Note: This event is sponsored by the Tokyo Nightlife Tourism Grant, a program run jointly by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau.
