Area from Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building to Gyoko-dori Avenue, in front of Tokyo Station
2019-3-3

The Tokyo Marathon runs through many of the city's most famous sightseeing spots. It is hugely popular, receiving massive numbers of applications each year.

Altogether, 38,000 runners will participate in this marathon, which features marathon and 10-kilometer courses. Divisions include Junior and Youth, Visually Impaired, Intellectually Challenged, Transplant Recipients, and Wheelchair Users. This will be the third Tokyo Marathon since the new course was implemented. In 2018, a new record was set in the male Elite Race marathon. This year, it is possible that the record will be broken again.

For any runner, there is nothing better than hearing cheers of encouragement from spectators! Whether as a runner, volunteer, or spectator, join the Tokyo Marathon and experience a day when Tokyo becomes one.

Tokyo Marathon Week, which actually lasts for over a month, begins on February 1 and ends on March 6. Local businesses and runner support stations along the marathon course will be building up the atmosphere. For details, please check the official Tokyo Marathon website.

Note: On the day of the Tokyo Marathon, traffic regulation measures will be in place.
