The Tokyo Michiterasu 2022 illuminations will be held around Tokyo Station. The theme of this year's event is "Anniversary City." The illuminations celebrate the 150th anniversary of Japan's first railway line, the 20th anniversary of the Marunouchi Building, and the 15th anniversary of the Shin-Marunouchi Building.
Trees around Marunouchi Ekimae Square and Gyoko-dori will be illuminated in bright pastel tones and the color of pink roses, which symbolize gratitude, refinement, and good fortune in the Japanese language of flowers.
Plus, to further the celebratory mood, the trees by the Marunouchi Station Building will be lit up to resemble flower bouquets.
