The Ohme Road Race is one of Japan's major running events. All kinds of people—from top international athletes to high schoolers and seniors from across Japan—come to participate. They compete in two categories: 10 km and 30 km. Local residents cheer them on, creating a sense of solidarity. The race is being held for the first time in three years, with COVID-19 countermeasures in place. As for after the race, it is the perfect season to enjoy the nighttime scenery from the top of Mt. Mitake. The air is clean and clear in winter, offering panoramic views of high-rise buildings in central Tokyo, from Shinjuku to Tokyo Skytree.
