The Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony, one of the most popular autumn events in the city, will be held in 2024. The event is taking place at two venues for this 15th iteration.
Accessible for first-timers as well as regular tea ceremony enthusiasts, the festival features ceremony displays and workshops geared towards visitors and tourists. Experience the culture of Japanese tea ceremony, as well as the dynamic Tokyo culture that was shaped by it. The two venues are great places to take some time out in the bustling capital amongst lush greenery: the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum in Koganei, and the Hama-rikyu Gardens in Chuo City .

Tea ceremonies require reservations (although there are other programs you can participate in on the day). If you would like to take part, visit the Advance Reservation section on the official website and fill in the form or send a reply-paid postcard. The deadline for reservations is September 9.
