In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), various facilities around Tokyo may change their operating days or hours. In addition, some events may be canceled or postponed. Please check official facility or event websites for the latest updates and information.
If you've ever wanted to learn more about the art of Japanese tea ceremonies, then be sure to make your way to Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony festival, which is held over two weekends in October. Accessible for first timers as well as regular tea ceremony enthusiasts, the festival features ceremony displays and workshops geared towards visitors and foreign guests.
The festival is separated into two weekend events, the first one is held at the Edo-Tokyo Open-Air Architectural Museum in Koganei, and the second at the Hama-rikyu Gardens in Chuo. On show are traditional indoor ceremonies and more relaxed outdoor displays in both Japanese and English. Most of the events are ticketed so be sure to check online and reserve a spot to avoid missing out.
Please check the official event website for the latest updates on opening dates and times, prices, and other information.
