The back streets of Kagurazaka come alive during the Kagurazaka Matsuri, a summer festival that revives the lively ambience of old Tokyo.
In and around Bishamonten Zenkokuji Temple, you'll find a market selling hozuki (Japanese lantern plant), as well as volunteer guides dressed in yukata (summer kimono). Additionally, to top off your summer evening, local cafes and restaurants set up stalls for this event. The festival highlight is the Awa-odori Dance, during which 20 groups of incredibly talented musicians and dancers form a procession to dance along Kagurazaka-dori Street.
