Kagurazaka Matsuri (Japanese Lantern Plant Market and Awa-odori Dance Festival) 神楽坂まつり(ほおずき市・阿波踊り)

1 Kagurazaka, Shinjuku City, Tokyo (along Kagurazaka-dori Street)
2024-7-24 - 2024-7-27

The back streets of Kagurazaka come alive during the Kagurazaka Matsuri, a summer festival that revives the lively ambience of old Tokyo.

In and around Bishamonten Zenkokuji Temple, you'll find a market selling hozuki (Japanese lantern plant). Additionally, to top off your summer evening, local cafes and restaurants set up stalls for this event. The festival highlight is the Awa-odori Dance, during which 20 groups of incredibly talented musicians and dancers form a procession to dance along Kagurazaka-dori Street.
