This year’s Marunouchi Illumination, which marks the 16th year of the event, will feature approximately 930,000 LED bulbs in its original shade of “champagne gold,” coloring over 200 trees along about 1.2 kilometers of Naka-dori Street to create a gorgeous cityscape. This illumination has achieved a reduction in energy usage and so on through the adoption of “eco illumination,” and in 2014, it partially introduced “new eco illumination,” which further lowers power consumption. This initiative has garnered praise, and the illumination was certified as “Nihon Yakei Isan (Night View Inheritance of Japan)” in FY2016 (the 12th edition). This year, the installation area of “new eco illumination” has been further expanded. Approximately 570,000 bulbs will be newly introduced, which will preserve the illumination’s elegant radiance while reducing power usage.
