North of Miyakejima Airport, you can find Shiitori Shrine. Visit this humble shrine, believed to be the origins of events in the local mythology, and pay respects to the eighth Shiritaki of Sakitama-hime who is enshrined here. While mudslides destroyed the original shrine, you can visit its reconstruction.
