The Tokyo Municipal Research Building was built in 1929 using money donated by Zenjiro Yasuda, a leading Japanese businessman who agreed with the lofty ideals of then-Tokyo mayor Shinpei Goto. It has significant historical value and has been designated as a tangible cultural property (building) of Tokyo.
While the areas used as office space are not open to the general public, the library is accessible to anyone. The building is also conveniently located on the south side of Hibiya Park.
