An art museum with a focus on artistic materials, The University Art Museum near Ueno Park is on the campus of Tokyo University of the Arts. The museum features a collection of around 30,000 works, including many from past students and teachers of the university. The museum has an on-site café and the “Geidai Art Plaza,” which sells works by students and faculties in the campus. Among the works in the collection, 23 are National Treasures or Important Cultural Properties. You can see these when they are exhibited during the Geidai Collection Exhibition, held once or twice a year. Note that there is no permanent exhibition at the musuem, and entrance to the facility is not possible when no special exhibition is being held. Make sure to check the online exhibition schedule in advance.
