Chotaro-ike Tide Pool 長太郎池海水浴場

Tsubota Miyakejima Miyake-mura Tokyo

A natural inlet ideal for swimming and crabbing

One of the five designated areas for swimming on Miyakejima Island, Chotaro-ike is a natural tide pool formed by a volcanic eruption more than 2,500 years ago. It is around 50-meters wide, with concrete stairs leading to the water, making it accessible to families with young children. Chotaro-ike is ideal for crabbing and finding fish.

Lifeguards are usually on post during swimming season and toilet and shower facilities are available year-round.
