Whale watching and some of the best sunset viewing on Chichijima

The view from the Weather Station Observatory located on the northwestern corner of the island is spectacular and impossible to see anywhere else.

Chichijima offers a network of observation points and trails you can explore, but this observatory, located about a 30-minute walk from Futami Port, is one of the highlights. One of the best places on the island to watch the setting sun, make sure to bring your binoculars if you’re visiting between December and April when humpback whales frequent the island waters.
