A facility showcasing the charms of origami
Ochanomizu Origami Kaikan is a multi-functional space dedicated to showcasing the charms of origami and traditional Japanese washi paper. Founded in 1858 as a factory for dyeing washi, the space has shops offering washi, patterned chiyogami, origami folding paper and more, as well as a gallery and various exhibitions of paper crafts.
Visitors can even tour the paper-dyeing studio that still proudly uses traditional techniques (viewing may sometimes be unavailable depending on the specific work being done).
Origami lessons (reservations required) and mini origami lessons are also available, but please check the official website for specific dates. Both private and group classes are offered.
