The National Archives of Japan preserve important historical materials from national institutions, and make them available to the public.

Along with certain materials, such as the Japanese Constitution (copies), that are always available on request, various free exhibitions showcasing Japanese history and literature are also available all year round.

The National Archives of Japan is located beside the Imperial Palace in Tokyo's central Chiyoda City.
