A mini city and workers' paradise for kids
KidZania, "a town where kids take center stage," offers a 2/3-sized replica of the real world, complete with adult-like jobs and activities for your children to experience—crime not included. Located inside LaLaport Toyosu, near Odaiba on Tokyo's east end, it's an eight-minute walk from Toyosu Station on the Yurakucho Line.
Tips
- Children can try out different careers, and receive wages in special KidZania currency. They can use those earnings to buy services or go shopping.
- The Job Information Center shows all the children-only activities available at KidZania.
- Children can take their hard-earned money and go shopping at the department store, pay for activities, or even put away savings in the bank.
Entering the complex, you will be astounded at the quality and attention to detail given to this miniature city. With approximately 60 pavilions sponsored by real businesses and around 100 kinds of careers and services to try, children can easily enjoy an entire day here. The career experiences last an average of 30 minutes, and kids can dress up in authentic uniforms to wield realistic equipment for an experience convincingly grounded in reality.
The jobs cover a diverse range from kid favorites like police officer and firefighter, to fashion model and pastry chef. Unlike the real world, your kid doesn't need any qualifications to participate in the jobs—so let them experiment to their hearts' desire. Adults are prohibited from entering the pavilions in order to foster independence, but you can watch your little ones from monitor screens and large windows. Feel free to take photos or videos.
