The Yebisu Garden Place stands on the former grounds of the Yebisu Beer Brewery, which in 1890 created one of Japan's top-selling beers. There is, quite naturally, a beer museum that pays homage to Yebisu Beer and how it came to be. But even if you're not a fan of beer, there is still much you can do.
Yebisu Garden Place, located within walking distance from Ebisu Station on the JR Yamanote and Tokyo Metro Hibiya lines, feels inspired by the architecture of a European city, replete with wide plazas, cobblestones, gardens, and even a French-looking chateau.
Get a commanding view of the city skyline free of charge from the restaurant floors of the Yebisu Garden Place's tower block, and take part in occasional public events such as farmers' markets and, in summer, open-air cinema nights. Also, amid this urban oasis are the five-star Westin Hotel, a Mitsukoshi department store, the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, as well as the Michelin 3-star Chateau Restaurant Joel Robuchon.
