Art and artifacts from the centuries at the Eisei Bunko Museum

The Eisei Bunko Museum is a museum in Tokyo's Bunkyo Ward near Waseda University. The building is formerly part of the Hosokawa clan's estate and the museum holds the family's collection of nearly 100,000 works of art, artifacts and documents that span 700 years.

The nearly 6,000 works of art include famous paintings, scrolls and sculptures and displays are changed throughout the year to show different parts of the collection. You can also enjoy a cup of coffee at the museum’s teahouse.

Near the museum are the Edo River Park and Higo Hosokawa Garden, which offer gorgeous gardens to stroll.

    *Last entry 30 minutes before closing
  • Closing days: MondaysIf a scheduled closing falls on a public holiday, the facility will remain open on the holiday and close the next day.
