In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), various facilities around Tokyo may change their operating days or hours. In addition, some events may be canceled or postponed. Please check official facility or event websites for the latest updates and information.
Look out to sea from the warm waters of Ashitsuke Onsen, a rock pool-like open air hot spring bath. The name, meaning "foot dipping" onsen, derives from a legend that a sea lion healed its wounded flipper in these waters.
This is the only onsen with clear water on Shikine-jima Island. Its location right on the rocky sea shore makes it extra special. You can enter this unusual onsen for free at any time of day or night, but don't forget your swimsuit. As a naturally occurring outdoor onsen, watch out for slippery rocks, and be mindful that the temperature can change with the tide.
For updated information on opening hours, closings, prices, and more, please check the official website or ask the facility directly.
