Araiyakushi Baishoin Temple 新井薬師 梅照院

One of Nakano's best-kept tourist secrets

Nestled in the backstreets of the residential hub of Nakano is where you'll find Araiyakushi Baishoin Temple. Founded in 1586, the temple is said to have the power to cure eye ailments and help with raising children.

If you're in the area during spring it's worth making the time to visit the temple grounds as the site is home to an impressive collection of blossoming cherry trees. The temple also hosts a monthly flea market, which sees 50 to 80 vendors set up shop selling everything from homemade goods to unique collectibles.
