Araiyakushi Baishoin Temple 新井薬師 梅照院

5-3-5 Arai, Nakano City, Tokyo

One of Nakano's best-kept tourist secrets

Nestled in the backstreets of the residential hub of Nakano is where you'll find Araiyakushi Baishoin Temple. Founded in 1586, the temple is said to have the power to cure eye ailments and help with raising children.

If you're in the area during spring, it's worth making the time to visit the temple grounds, as the site is home to an impressive collection of blossoming cherry trees. The temple also holds a special celebration to mark the 8th, 18th, and 28th of every month. On the first Sunday of the month, around 50-80 vendors gather for an antique fair.
