Philatelic Museum 切手の博物館

1-4-23 Mejiro Toshima-ku Tokyo

Art, design, history, and flea markets here at Toshima’s museum of stamps

The Philatelic Museum is a museum dedicated to the cultural, historical and artistic impact of stamps. The first-floor exhibition room is the heart of the museum, and home to theme-based exhibits that cover the cultural, historic, and artistic importance of stamps. These diverse exhibits change every three months. On the second floor, you’ll find a very well stocked library.

If you’re visiting on the weekend, you may be able to catch one of the museum’s regular flea market style events, which are open to the public. On the 23rd of each month, the museum offers free admission in celebration of ‘fumi no hi’ which is ‘the day of writing letters’.
