In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), various facilities around Tokyo may change their operating days or hours. In addition, some events may be canceled or postponed. Please check official facility or event websites for the latest updates and information.
Whether you’re visiting for one day or a few, to get the most out of your time in Okutama, make Okutama Visitor Center your first point of call. The center hosts several small exhibits on the the flora and fauna in the area, and has useful tourist information available in a number of languages. Pick up some literature, explore the displays, and ask the local expert staff for tips on what to see and do.
The center even has a small rock-climbing wall, so you can brush up on your skills before heading out into the wild. If you’re planning a hiking trip, be sure to ask about bear sightings to avoid any unwanted encounters.
