mAAch ecute Kanda Manseibashi マーチエキュート神田万世橋

1-25-4 Kanda Suda-cho, Chiyoda-ku

From busy train station to commercial complex

Manseibashi Station was once a busy stop on the Chuo Line. The red-brick structure is now a one-of-a-kind shopping and dining complex that stretches from Ochanomizu Station to Kanda Station along the Kanda River. With the odd but memorable name of mAAch ecute, the space has shops, pop-up shops, restaurants, cafes, and bars serving organic coffee, craft beer and various types of cuisine.

The graceful arches of the brick viaduct remain, as does the old staircase, which was closed off after the station was shut in 1943. The old platform has been transformed into a glass-walled space with a scenic overlook. Trains pass by on both sides, very close. The stores inside are modern and sleek, connected by a wooden deck that runs along the adjacent waterway. There's a scale-model diorama re-creation of what the station and area looked like around a hundred years ago on the first floor.
