For a ryokan experience with a uniquely contemporary twist, you shouldn't miss Tokyo's first designer ryokan, Andon Ryokan. It's situated a five minute walk from Minowa Station, and a scenic 20-minute stroll from the sightseeing hub of Asakusa. Fuku Andon, an "antique cafe and bar," is located at street level. It offers delicious Japanese and Western cuisine, with a menu centered on Japanese home cooking.
In addition to traditional Japanese-style rooms, guests can enjoy a tiled jacuzzi space, which features an original design created by an artist using Arita-yaki pottery tiles. Restrooms and other public spaces are decorated with hand-drawn manga designs, giving each floor a unique atmosphere.
