Hajime no Ippo Custom-Designed Manhole Covers 「はじめの一歩」デザインマンホール

4-6 Senjuasahi-cho etc., Adachi City, Tokyo

Adachi Ward created manhole covers featuring the boxing manga series Hajime no Ippo by Joji Morikawa, a manga artist from the ward. The ward selected the designs for the covers from the series' most popular fights, and Morikawa illustrated them. You can spot them in Kita-Senju, the largest terminal station in the ward, Umejima, Morikawa's hometown, and Nishi Arai (Galaxcity), which is home to many couples of childbearing age—an age-range that includes a lot of the series' fans. The manhole covers are placed so that you can enjoy roaming around and finding the new charms of Adachi Ward while looking for them.
