Joe Yabuki from "Ashita no Joe" Custom-Designed Manhole Cover 矢吹丈(あしたのジョー)デザインマンホール

In the vicinity of 1-28-1 Higashi-oizumi (by the bottom of the pedestrian deck stairs at Oizumi-gakuen Station North Gate), Nerima City, Tokyo

This custom-designed manhole cover features Joe Yabuki from Ashita no Joe. Ashita no Joe is a boxing manga masterpiece born in Nerima Ward and launched in 1967. Both Asao Takamori (aka Ikki Kajiwara), who wrote the series, and Tetsuya Chiba, who illustrated it, lived and worked in Nerima for many years. Also, don't miss the life-sized statues of popular anime characters linked to Nerima Ward, including Joe Yabuki at the "Oizumi Anime Gate" by Oizumi-gakuen Station North Gate.
