A museum for fashion and history enthusiasts alike
This is one of a few Japanese museums dedicated solely to clothing. It is affiliated with Educational Foundation Bunka Gakuen, a well-known fashion school, and was founded in 1979 as an archive for student research. Since opening its doors to the public, it has held several exhibitions a year under the theme "Understanding the Culture of the World and Japan through Clothing." It displays costumes from Japan and various countries around the world, providing a clear and accessible introduction to diverse cultures. The museum continuously gathers materials to improve its collection, and conducts gallery talks and other activities to deepen understanding of the materials on display.
