Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal バスタ新宿

5-24-55 Sendagaya, Shibuya City, Tokyo

Tokyo's newest bus terminal—a budget-friendly gateway to the rest of Japan

Head up to the fourth floor of the complex, to catch a highway bus to one of Japan's many other sight-filled cities. If you are happy where you are, browse the airy shops and cafés of the attached NEWoMan department store.

Tips

  • Stocking up on beautiful bento boxes, French pastries and other treats for your journey in the NEWoMan food hall
  • Posing by the colorful penguin statue on the second floor of the bus terminal

While the speedy bullet train is Japan's most famous method of transportation, there is also an efficient network of highway buses that crisscross the country. Affectionately known as "Busta"—a combination of the words bus and terminal—this hub makes it easy for you to hop on a bus in central Shinjuku and head off to explore other areas of the country for a very reasonable fee. You don't need to speak Japanese to book your journey, as the ticket vending machines and information counter staff provide assistance in English.

The bus terminal offers free Wi-Fi, and you will also find coin lockers, a convenience store and an ATM in the waiting room, to ensure that you have everything you need before boarding.
