MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM: EPSON teamLab Borderless was visited by approximately 2.3 million visitors from over 160 countries and regions around the world in just one year. This record-breaking digital art museum will relocate from Odaiba to Azabudai Hills, and is scheduled to open in February 9, 2024. Situated between Roppongi and Toranomon Hills, and not far from the iconic Tokyo Tower, don’t miss the second incarnation of one of Tokyo’s most popular attractions in recent years.

teamLab Borderless

The international art collective known as “teamLab” will be relocating its popular immersive art project “Borderless” from Odaiba to Azabudai Hills and is scheduled to open in February 9, 2024.
Founded in 2001, teamLab follows an interdisciplinary approach to art, with a range of specialists including artists, programmers, engineers, CG animators, mathematicians, and architects all working together to explore the relationship between the individual and the world through art. teamLab’s exhibitions have been held all over the world, including New York, London, Paris, Singapore, Silicon Valley, Beijing, and Melbourne.
The world’s first museum solely dedicated to digital art opened in Odaiba in 2018, and the following year it was featured in TIME magazine’s "World's Greatest Places 2019," even setting a new world record for the most visited single-artist museum in the world. It was also honored by the Thea Awards, which recognize the world's most outstanding cultural facilities.
The Odaiba venue was closed in August 2022 due to the redevelopment of the local Palette Town area. After months of speculation and anticipation about where teamLab would set up its new permanent museum, it has now been revealed that teamLab Borderless will be relocating to Azabudai Hills.
This new joint venture from teamLab and Mori Building will feature artworks that have evolved from the previous location, as well as several new installations that will be unveiled for the first time, including “Bubble Universe” and “Megalith Crystal Formation.” Expect them to continue to examine the confluence of art, science, technology, and the natural world. Visitors will be encouraged to “wander, explore, and discover in one borderless world.”
One of the reasons teamLab Borderless decided to relocate to Azabudai Hills was because of its focus on “Green & Wellness.” Together with the Azabudai Hills Gallery and the various public artworks dotted around the site, teamLab Borderless aims to create a place where art and culture come together to enrich people’s hearts and minds.
