The Takashimaya department store is a landmark of Nihonbashi (also spelled Nihombashi) . A period of renovation has resulted in an exciting new shopping development: Nihombashi Takashimaya S.C. The four-part complex includes the original main building (a cultural property), the east building, Takashimaya Watch Maison and the brand-new annex. The main building and annex are home to 115 specialty shops featuring newly imported goods and various designer brands.
The Nihombashi Galleria, the pedestrian area between the main building and the annex, is covered by a beautiful glass ceiling and lined with restaurants and shops. Restaurants can also be found on the sixth and seventh floors of the annex. Additionally, the main building is set to host the largest rooftop garden in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Construction is scheduled to finish in the first half of 2019.
A visit to Nihombashi Takashimaya S.C. is the perfect way to surround yourself with history and culture as you enjoy a day of shopping and fine dining!
