Enjoy animation and entertainment in Ikebukuro (2024 version)
Known for its large movie theaters, game centers, capsule toy machines, and animation and character goods stores, Ikebukuro is a popular entertainment town. Let’s take a look at some entertainment spots to visit.
“Making ANIME more interesting,Bringing ANIME far into the future”
Anime Tokyo Station opened in Ikebukuro on October 31, 2023 as a starting point for the further development of Japanese animation and related industries, culture, and tourism.
Basement Floor 1 has about 50,000 animation production items, and an exhibition space on the floor showcases cels and other materials along with production processes. The 1st floor has a symbol composed of characters and scenes from a wide variety of animations, and “interactive-vision.” Visitors can touch the interactive-vision screen, see videos, and enjoy other fun activities. The 2nd floor has an animation product store and an exhibition space that features popular animations. Anime Tokyo attracts visitors with a broad range of exciting attractions.

Ikebukuro PR Animation was produced by renowned artists to highlight the charms of Ikebukuro as a popular animation town. Manhole covers featuring the illustrations of PR animations can be found along Sunshine Street. Manhole cover cards are also handed out at the Tourist Information Desk at the Ikebukuro Station East Exit. Until Monday, March 31, 2025, the TOKYO Manhole Cover Digital Rally is being held. Visit custom-designed manhole covers in 62 wards and municipalities in Tokyo and get stamps and points to be eligible for a lottery to win awards based on the number of stamps and points accumulated. Enjoy this fun digital rally.

Hareza Ikebukuro is a large complex featuring with eight different types of theaters and a park with an animation collaboration café.
Tokyo Tatemono Brillia Hall has a wide variety of stage performances and traditional Japanese arts.
The futuristic live theater, Harevutai, holds live events with cutting-edge theater equipment.
TOHO Cinemas Ikebukuro has seats 1,715 and has 10 screens. In addition to “Go/On Theater” which makes the air tremble, and Premium Theater with TCX, ScreenX with Dolby Atmos was installed in July of 2024. This unique experience features stereophonic sound and three screens for a total length of 50 meters, one of the largest in the Kanto Region. This allows visitors to experience an unprecedented sense of immersion.

Grand Scape IKEBUKURO is a large building boasting one of the largest cinema complexes in the Tokyo Metropolitan area and a wide variety of popular stores.
