Kumano Shrine 熊野神社(蔵敷熊野神社)

1-419 Zoushiki, Higashiyamato City, Tokyo

Be enchanted as you explore the mysterious shrine grounds

The exact date of the shrine's foundation remains a mystery, however, some old historical texts mention the shrine as early as the 16th or 17th century.

The shrine is said to have been built by the local Uchino family to ward off demons. The stone steps of the road to the shrine, and the trees surrounding it, will leave you feeling as if you are exploring a surreal, yet oddly calming alternate reality. This shrine is the perfect spot if you're looking for a taste of Japanese history.
