1-15-17 Okubo, Shinjuku City, Tokyo

Soak in a traditional hot spring right in the center of the city

Less than a five-minute walk from Shin-Okubo Station sits Mannenyu, a traditional-style Japanese public bath. Hidden down a small side street running south off Okubo Dori, it's not easy to find but its hidden location adds to its old-world charm. The hot spring is a tattoo friendly one, so those with inked skin need not worry about being turned away.

Inside you'll find a selection of different bathing facilities including extra-hot baths, jet stream baths, and a plunge pool for cooling off. If you come unprepared don't worry, shampoo, soap and other amenities are provided, and towels are available to rent.
