This modern museum is within a park that was once an American military base, now an urban forest, and was built to reflect the lush, green surroundings. Inside, you can find a permanent collection of art from 1900 onwards, with a focus on modern Japanese paintings made in traditionally Western styles. The museum's permanent collection features artists from the nearby Tama and Fuchu areas, and holds exhibitions by artists between the Edo period and modern times, as well as by artists from across Japan and around the world.
Fuchu Art Museum is located in Fuchu-no-mori Park and can be accessed by bus or taxi from Fuchu Station. Enjoy a walk through the park, and then, take in some traditional and contemporary Japanese artwork.
