Fuchu Art Museum 府中市美術館

1-3 Sengencho Fuchu-shi Tokyo

Immerse yourself in traditional Japanese paintings and cutting-edge contemporary art

This modern museum is within a park that was once an American military base, now an urban forest, and was built to reflect the lush, green surroundings. Inside, you can find a permanent collection of Nihonga, Japanese paintings made using traditional Japanese techniques since the 1900s. The museum's permanent collection features artists from the nearby Tama and Fuchu areas and holds exhibitions by contemporary artists from across Japan.

Fuchu Art Museum is located in Fuchunomori Park and can be accessed by bus or taxi from Fuchu Station. Enjoy a walk through the park and then take in some traditional and contemporary Japanese artwork.
