Paper Museum 紙の博物館

Public Interest Incorporated Foundation, PAPER MUSEUM, 1-1-3 Oji, Kita City, Tokyo

Art, history, and hands-on fun in Oji, where Western-style paper was first made in Japan

Oji's Paper Museum is a place to learn all about paper, and frequently hosts a variety of special events. The museum is home to a number of exhibition spaces, a reading space, an event hall, and a museum shop. If you're traveling with kids, spend some time on the third floor exploring the interactive and educational displays, before heading up to the top level to learn all about washi, traditional Japanese paper.
If you visit on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, you can try making your own paper using materials from recycled milk cartons. The papermaking workshop is free with admission and is suitable for guests of all ages.
