Kominato Beach 小港海岸(父島)

Chichijima, Ogasawara Village, Tokyo

Laid-back beach days and luxurious starry nights

If you've ever wanted your very own private beach, a day at Kominato Beach is the next-best thing. Somewhat removed from the main area, this beach is a local secret.

With smooth, pure white sand and gorgeous azure blue water that stretches for miles, the beach is well worth the effort it takes to reach. In the summer months, you might be lucky enough to spot sea turtles laying eggs or colonies of hermit crabs. There is also less coral in the water here, making it the perfect spot for a leisurely stress-free swim.

Even if you don't make it to Kominato Beach during the day, be sure to take the time to visit in the evening. Far removed from any artificial light, the views of the night sky are resplendent, with the Milky Way crisp and clear. Note that night tours can be booked on the island.
