Katsushika Hokusai's "Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji" Custom-Designed Manhole Covers 葛飾北斎「冨嶽三十六景」デザインマンホール

Near Ryogoku Station, Sumida City, Tokyo

Near Ryogoku Station in Sumida Ward, you will find custom-designed manhole covers featuring "Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji" by world-renowned Ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai. Hokusai was born in Sumida. Although he moved 93 times in the approximately 90 years of his life, he lived mainly in Sumida and left many masterpieces behind him. One of the manhole covers features "The Great Wave off Kanagawa," and the other "Fine Wind, Clear Morning (Red Fuji)."
