Kishida Riusei A Retrospective 没後90年記念 岸田劉生展

Tokyo Station Gallery, 1-9-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda City, Tokyo
2019-08-31 - 2019-10-20

90 years after his death, Ryusei Kishida’s famous works collected under one roof

Ryusei Kishida (1891-1929) was one of Japan’s foremost modern painters. He learned authentic style oil painting from Seiki Kuroda. The birth of his beloved daughter Reiko inspired him towards an extreme realism, responsible for the creation of his famous series of portraits of Reiko. The pieces chosen for this exhibition represent milestones in Kishida’s career, with over 150 works on display. In general, the exhibits are displayed by year of production, allowing visitors to trace the ongoing changes throughout the artist’s life. 90 years after Kishida’s death, this is a rare opportunity to see his most famous work collected under one roof.
*Some pieces will be replaced during the exhibition period.
