The Dinosaur Expo 2019 恐竜博2019

National Museum of Nature and Science, 7-20 Ueno Park, Taito City, Tokyo
2019-7-13 - 2019-10-14

Showcasing 50 years of paleontological research, including the latest findings

Deinonychus was a carnivorous dinosaur first discovered in America in 1969, whose name means “terrible claw”. Its discovery was the impetus for a surge in dinosaur research. This exhibition looks at the intervening 50 years of paleontology, including cutting edge findings. It includes the first public display anywhere in the world of Deinocheirus, a dinosaur first discovered in the Gobi Desert in Mongolia, which was considered a mystery for forty years. It also offers a chance to see the fossilized remains and skeleton replica of the large dinosaur discovered in Mukawa, Hokkaido, which has only ever been displayed in Mukawa until now.
