Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Tokyo, 2-6-2 Marunouchi, Chiyoda City, Tokyo
2019-7-6 - 2019-10-6

Looking back over the career of the world-renowned, multi-talented artist and fashion designer

With his creation of the Delphos gown (a finely pleated silk dress), Mariano Fortuny (1871-1949) suddenly became a favorite of the fashion world in the early 20th century. This exhibition has been organised with the complete cooperation of the Fortuny Museum, a museum based in Fortuny’s former home and workshop in Venice. With a focus on Fortuny’s dresses and coats, the exhibition takes a general look at materials related to design, including paintings, prints, photographs, pieces related to the theater, and the artist’s collection of Japanese dyeing stencils. An excellent opportunity to look at the whole career of a multi-talented artist who has received a great deal of renewed interest worldwide in recent years.
