Showcasing the varied work of Leo Lionni, author of Swimmy

Leo Lionni (1910-1999) is known throughout Japan for his story Swimmy, which appears in elementary school textbooks. This exhibition looks at his eventful life during which Lionni had relocated several times between Europe and America, introducing his art. The event turns the spotlight on his way of incorporating abstract expression into children's books at the first time by Lionni, showcasing the various range of activities such as an author of children's books, art director, painting and sculpture painting and sculpture. Exhibits include original artwork from famous works such as Frederick and Inch by Inch.
