Suggestions for coordination featuring antique kimonos

The impression many people have of kimonos is that they are difficult to wear, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Prewar jojoga (“lyrical picture”) depicts women enjoying wearing kimonos. At this exhibition, stylist Chieko Iwata recreates these jojoga scenes using antique kimonos. It also shows how the charm of kimonos wearing a different obi or accessory can lend a new feel to the look. This exhibition explores the fun of kimonos which, in the same way a kaleidoscope takes on a new aspect depending on the way it is viewed, can change depending on the way they are worn and accessorized.
