The exhibition to showcase carefully selected pieces from TOP museum’s collection of over 35,000 works. Under the theme “Stories of Four Places”, the featured artists are W. Eugene Smith, Narahara Ikko, Naito Masatoshi and Yamazaki Hiroshi. Each artist created works which looked deeply at one particular place or region. Narahara Ikko photographed the island of Hashima (also known as Battleship Island) in Nagasaki, which prospered from the Meiji to the Showa eras through deep-sea coal mining. With text accompanying the photographs, the exhibition seeks to unravel the stories each work tells.
